GAINING
CONFIDENCE IN OUR INNATE WISDOM - A Retreat
with Sogyal Rinpoche
The Rigpa Autumn
Retreat with Sogyal Rinpoche, world-renowned Buddhist teacher from
Tibet and author of the spiritual classic, The Tibetan Book of Living
and Dying, will take place in Lake Tahoe, California at the Resort
at Squaw Creek from November 27 to December 6. There is also a short
option from November 27 to November 30.
With his remarkable
gift for presenting the essence of Tibetan Buddhism in a way that
is both authentic and profoundly relevant to the modern mind, Sogyal
Rinpoche is one of the best-loved teachers of our time. The atmosphere
that Rinpoche creates is one of incredible warmth, love, and penetrating
insight, as if he were speaking directly to the heart of each and
every person present.
In this special
retreat, Gaining Confidence in our Innate Wisdom: The Profound Method
for Bringing Forth the Realization of the Nature of Mind through
the Teaching of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection, Sogyal Rinpoche
will share the essence of the Dzogchen teachings. Dzogchen, or 'Great
Perfection,' is the heart-essence of all spiritual paths and one
of the clearest, most effective and most relevant wisdom teachings
for the modern world. Simple yet profound, it is a path that can
be integrated with ordinary life and practiced anywhere. Rinpoche's
teachings will be complemented by periods of practice for people
of all levels of experience.
About Rigpa:
Rigpa aims to present the Buddhist tradition of Tibet in a way that
is both completely authentic, and as relevant as possible to the
lives and needs of modern men and women.
Open to all
schools and traditions of Buddhist wisdom, and with the guidance
and gracious patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Rigpa offers
those following the Buddhist teachings a complete path of study
and practice, along with the environment they need to experience
the teachings fully.

Our
informal drop-in meditation classes are the ideal way to learn how
to meditate. You can discover Buddhist approaches to the challenges
of life and practice training the mind in a supportive and casual
environment.
Each
week we hear one of Buddha’s teachings and relate it to modern
life. There is no need to attend every class in a set of teachings,
just come to the classes you can make. You don’t have to book,
just turn up on the night. The classes start at 7.30pm and finish
about 9pm. We recommend coming 10 minutes early so you can be settled
and still when the class starts.
The
facility fee is $12. Classes consist of guided meditations, teaching
and discussion, followed by refreshments.
Meditation
Day Courses give us a chance to explore Buddha’s teachings
more than we can in an evening meditation class. By taking the time
to contemplate and meditate, the teachings come alive for us in
a practical and direct way.
The
meditation day courses are designed to explore one of Buddha's teachings
and explain how they are relevant for us today. We have the opportunity
to hear profound teachings and then meditate on them so the meaning
can go in deeply.
Courses
start at 10am and finish at 4pm. There are breaks mid-morning and
mid-afternoon, and an hour for lunch. Feel free to bring a plate
and join us for a shared meal!
The facility fee is $35 for advance bookings or $40 on the day.

Meditation
for Today
Meditation
for Today was established in 1993 by Philippa (then Pip) Ransome,
when Venerable Ayya Khema (1923-1997) asked her to teach meditation
and the Dhamma. Ayya Khema, one of the great mystics of the twentieth
century, is remembered for the clarity of her teachings and especially
her understanding of the meditative absorptions. Philippa is one
of only 6 teachers in Australia authorised by Ayya to pass on the
Buddha’s teachings and Meditation for Today is dedicated to
this purpose.
Retreats range from 1 to 10 days in length to meet the needs of
beginning meditators and those already practicing towards stream
entry. Unless otherwise stated all retreats are offered at Nyora
Forest Retreat situated in the beautiful Yarra Valley an hours drive
from Melbourne.
The teaching
is pure, simple, joyful and speaks to the heart.
May you be well and happy!
